The Movie Database Support

Hey there, I'm trying to import my IMDb ratings into TMDb, but I get the following error when I run the import: "Couldn't find IMDB ID". It seems the import takes the Rating column instead of the IMDB ID one, because the first output is:

IMDB ID Imported? Reason? (If applicable) Your Rating X Couldn't find IMDB ID.

One other strange thing is that the list has 1190 items and the import reports only 1146 items.

Edit: I just added another row to the CSV so that the Const column (with the IMDB IDs) is second, not first. This seems to have worked, but there are still some titles that couldn't be imported because the ID somehow couldn't be found (a Google results however points you to the right movie). Currently the problems I've encountered are:

  1. TMDb expect the CSV to have one extra row
  2. Not all items are found in the CSV
  3. Not all found items can be imported, although they exist on both sites (example: Pretty woman)

Edit #2: It seems I only have 9 movies (all seem to be Pixar short movies) and 2 TV series at the moment in my library. This is pretty far from the 1123 the import page reported. It also seems that of the 23 found-but-not-imported items, only 11 are reported in the list, the other ones show up with a tick.

Hi @crisro996,

You can see the example file that was valid when I wrote the importer here. Is the current format that you recently exported from IMDb the same? It's possible they changed their export since then.

The other thing that I have seen is some very hard to work around quote problems in their export, which would probably account for the missing 44 items.

Would you mind forwarding me a copy of your csv to travis@themoviedb.org? I can take a look at it.

Edit: I just fixed an issue that was not syncing the updates properly to the list even though they were added correctly. So if you pop back in now, and add some items you'll at least see them on your list within 30 seconds.

I just got your email, so that is a rating list export from IMDB now? If so, yes, that is a new format. I'll have to update the importer to accommodate it.

It's very weird cause I just exported my wishlist to see if all lists look the same and it has the same format as your example CSV. I think they changed the format for the ratings when they removed the filters from the page.

Aha, ok, so the ratings export changed. Weird that they would only change one list but okie dokie.

It's an easy enough update regardless. I'll work on this Monday morning when I get in to work.

Thanks for the info!

It works great now, thanks! A few items failed to be imported, but I'll them manually cause they're so few (10 or so). It took a couple of refreshes to completely populate the list, but now everything's there. grin

There's still some work I need to finish around this to smooth some things out which I am working on right now.

Yesterday was a holiday which I forgot about so technically my previous message should have been when I get into work on Tuesday wink

Just an FYI, I just pushed an update to officially support the new format. No matter if it's the old or new format, we should be importing both lists properly now.
