The Movie Database Support

Hey there!

I just realize the UFC Collection was erased by someone, so now all the UFC combats (I have more than 160) appears in the list just like another film. This is pretty uncomfortable, can someone bring the collection back?

The URL of the collection was: https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/97256-ufc-collection

Thanks in advance and best regards!

Something I plan to get to this year is what I have referred to as "universes". Universes will be a way to group content that is much more broad than collections. Now, it is definitely designed to work with collections (the easiest example I can use is the Marvel Cinematic Universe) so a a universe can have all of it's collections, movies, characters and actors in one place.

I think the reason we're hesitant to bend rules around collections is because by keeping each feature confined to how it was designed means I can work within those confines to build these gen features. It will very likely make a lot of sense for us to have a MMA universe but there's probably going to be other ways for us make sense of this content as well.

To be clear, this isn't feature I have started working on yet, it's just been something I've been building in my head but do plan to get to. A lot of our restrictions around things like this is to save ourselves from doing a lot of extra work when we know a proper feature is planned.

I hope that makes sense...

Plz create UFC collection!

@travisbell Sounds better than changing the rules. Im generally as a developer myself against changing the rules. But then again u could always just call it a feature =). Got an ETA on the Universe? How will it work with the API changes and all apps using the current one?

@Chrillep I don't have a very accurate ETA but it's an important feature that I'll definitely get to. The last time I had a meeting with our designer univereses covered the bulk of the conversation so....

With regards to the API, it's a completely new feature and will have a completely new namespace on the API (probably /universe). Same goes for the website, this is all new and has nothing to do with collections other than universes can contain them.

bump! ;)

@travisbell Any update? @lineker Can we change the rules so collections can contain PPV's?

I don't have any update to provide right now. It's still just a planned feature.

I don't think we should bend the rules since as soon as we bend it once, it's a cascade of people expecting the rules to be bent for their particular interest. We just have to be patient until that the proper feature to support this type of data is built.

@travisbell i would agree, if it werent for the 3 years that have gone by ;)

let everyone w8 for 3 years, then add it :)

I have many other feature requests that are older than 3 years. I'm only one man who can only get so much done in a day.

any update? On a sidenote is themoviedb open-sourced on github or bitbucket so i could help develop?
