Hi LA,

We don't have any plans to support any other IDs at this time. Should we consider this in the future, I'll consider Kinopoisk.

Thanks.

Hi @slartus, not much has changed since 2014 wink There are no plans to support any more external ids at this time.

too bad confused kinopoisk could be useful to get rating for russian sites

Vote for kinopoisk ID, really useful!

Hi guys,

I would say that some things in the area have changed recently now that Wikidata is starting to store our IDs. I was actually just looking into this and noticed some matching going on.

But it's a relatively recent effort though, there's only ~6900 movie ids matched at this time according to the stats page. If I look over at Kinopoisk's page, they have 179,000 matched.

So the way I look at this is either one of these options or a mixture of both. You guys can of course use Wikidata if you wanted but I can also appreciate having the ids available as part of TMDb's ecosystem since we have features here that you might find useful as well.

I'd say that before I moved on doing anything on TMDb's side, it would be nice to see our coverage higher than 6900 movies. I am not familiar with how Wikidata's matching system works but if there's anything you guys are familiar with to help out and get more ids matched, I'd be more inclined to work on bringing more ids into TMDb. Being able to use an initial match like this is significantly better than starting at zero which is why I'm kind of waiting to see better TMDb coverage first.

Wikidata id would be nice.
