In moving through waiting rooms, the distance is removed as we follow a young man in a metaphorical cycle of life through interpretive dance, a form of contemporary dance wherein the dancer improvises and reacts to his environment: a void deck acting as a mystical passageway taking him in a journey across time where he encounters his boyhood self and his future. As with life, dance in a larger concept is abstract.

A material-based film work that speaks to the various states of tension, calm, frustration, apprehension, injustice, inequity, and struggle felt in our respective waiting rooms. 16mm found footage is manipulated using optical printing, layering and reprocessing. The simultaneous banality and stress of waiting undergoes a physical transformation into an active and highly charged materiality informed by our personal projections and desires. Camera handler and son waiting for a pediatric doctor's appointment, while playful taunts mingle with the curious decor, the focused patients, slow blurs and daily life unfurl. Chance encounters, accidental time, in spite of everything, small miracles of cinema and being.

Inspired by the aesthetics of live-staged performances, "Waiting Room" offers a unique artistic portrayal of handling one's childhood and growing up.

A large train station, it might be anywhere in a big city. Waiting passengers, some are curiously observing each other, some are too much involved with their own petty problems to pay attention to anything else. Our man, self- assured, practically undresses some of the woman present with his eyes, at least as long as his wife is absent, trying to get them some coffee. A beauty in blue returns his challenging looks, he can hardly believe it's true. Obviously, it is his lucky day today. By the time his wife returns our man has experienced some astonishing things under the watchful eyes of the fellow passengers. And most probably he will be much more reserved next time he sees a beautiful blonde.
