Live recording from Steve Hackett's critically acclaimed 2019 UK tour. The concert was recorded at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, the final night of the tour. Steve Hackett was joined by his touring band of Roger King (keyboards), Jonas Reingold (bass), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes), Craig Blundell (drums and percussion) with Nad Sylvan on vocals. Special guests for this performance were Steve's brother John Hackett (flute) and Amanda Lehmann (guitar and vocals). This was a very special tour for Steve Hackett as it brought together his favourite album from his time as guitarist with Genesis - Selling England By The Pound - which Steve and his band performed live in its entirety for the first time. The show also featured selected tracks from Steve's personal favourite album from his extensive solo career Spectral Mornings, together with tracks from his acclaimed 2019 release At The Edge Of Light.

The work of this quartet (comprised of Birch Cooper, Brenna Murphy, Sabrina Ratté, and Roger Tellier-Craig) shifts visually and aurally between the analog and the digital. Equally influenced by psychedelia and analog synthesized feedback, these videos undulate, shimmer, and pulse with an electric current surging from a hyper-conductive wire plugged into a supernatural outlet. At times the content of these videos appear as analytical devices for complex, cerebral data sets. In other moments, these videos become cascading diagrams of serene and blissful states of otherworldliness. Playfully gliding back and forth between different outputs and inputs, this group of videos shows a willingness amongst the collaborators to bring together the all-too-often divide between these unique technological spaces. In doing so, this collection provides entry into a new world where the digital and the analog coalesce and fuse, creating a newborn child of saturated splendor.

"[This] is my first attempt to construct a video piece using one set of generative intervals for both sound and color. All of the color in the piece is orchestrated in brightness ‘octaves’ corresponding to the registration of the pitches in the soundtrack. Each hue from a circle of twelve corresponds to one of the pitches of a tempered scale. The articulation of the piece consists of a series of loudness and brightness ripples which move across the piece in speed relationships derived from the hue and pitch proportions. The image content, or the ‘instruments’ through which the colors resonate, are an alphabetical set of identifying symbols for 32 of the largest corporations in the world." - Bob Snyder

"I attempt to render sections from the spectral analysis of things, to show them in many aspects and permutations simultaneously: their relations, sequences and oppositions.

Unfortunately I am unable to observe things from all sides...I consider my so-called abstraction and my actual ambiguity to be moments of realism."

from Hugo Huppert's (In the Prayer-Milll's Rattling): A Visit with Paul Celan in the book Translating Tradition. "Spectral Analysis Loops", a collaboration between Tarrl Lightowler (image, editing, sound) and Matthew Swiezynski (editing, sound)

Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher bring their curated audio works to the stage with help from a host of celebrated filmmakers and writers. Though created during during lockdown, with artists contributing from a distance, this program returns us to the communal thrills and comforts of storytelling, music, and performance.

Chronicling the heydays of Spectral Theatre Society, an independent theatre company from Vancouver, BC, Canada that defied convention and broke all the rules in their quixotic quest to produce theatre for people that don't like theatre.

Two years ago, IDFA on Stage featured Spectral Transmissions, a multimedia piece by performer-filmmakers Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher in which ghost stories offered solace in the anxious days of COVID. Now they are back with a new edition. Rather than focusing on fear and horror, this time they explore the unfathomable and sometimes uncanny power of love. In many ghost stories it is the power of love—for childhood friends, for family members, for animals—that bends time.

In a time when demons rule the world and mankind seeks freedom, human rebels gain control of the demon-slaying sword Tenmaken and attempt to assassinate the Demon King Janus. To preserve the sovereignty of her homeland, the half-human, half-demon Princess Hiro must overcome her deep hatred of the humans or face a war that will ravage the entire world!
