RUPTURE gathers individual testimony and acts as a kind of speaking mirror made up of singular voices. Created out of interviews with students and activists injured and criminalized during the 2012 student strike in Quebec, the film examines the political rupture caused by police repression.

This short abstract film, full of dark undertones, comes like a fleeting dream, where forms appear and disappear like ghosts in the midst of nocturnal chaos. It was created with an inventive use of digital technology and grew out of an unusual process of interchange between the painter Jean Detheux and the composer Jean Derome. The result is a rare meeting of images and music. Along with Liaisons, the film which precedes it, it constitutes a sort of diptych.

Every winter, a group of young people from the rough neighbourhood Peterbos in Anderlecht make a trip to the Pyrenees. Rupture follows these youngsters, on the brink of adulthood.

The film is about the animality that lies latent in the act of sex, and focuses on love and eroticism as a bodily, transcending act. Love and the experience of loss is given concrete physical expression in the film through blood, vomit, sweat and tears. wonderful "Rupture" is far from the more progressive action of a classic film, it is built around an atmospheric intensification that gradually builds to finally release. Both in the action and on the sound side, the film uncovers extreme moods from the swaying, meditative to the uncomfortable and transgressing.

"Ruptures (or André and Gabriel)" is the last episode of this short film trilogy of love encounters. This film follows Gabriel, while introducing André, his ex-boyfriend, with whom he's meeting by chance in Paris after 10 years. This encounter happens exactly in the moment when Gabriel is filming a documentary about break-ups. Gabriel then ends up inviting André to take part of it.
