Al centro della storia di "O.G. – ORIGINAL GANGSTER" c’è Louis (Jeffrey Wright): un tempo a capo di una potente gang di detenuti, e per questo chiamato con l’appellativo Original Gangster, è alle prese con le ultime settimane della sua condanna a 24 anni. La sua imminente scarcerazione sarà però compromessa dall’arrivo di Beecher (Theothus Carter), corteggiato dal nuovo capo della gang e che Louis prenderà sotto la propria ala. Il titolo del film, Ong Bak, si riferisce alla statua di un Budda che si trova nel tempio Nong Pra-du, nelle campagne thailandesi. I contadini credono che sia dotata del magico potere di proteggerli dalle disgrazie, ma quando questa viene rubata da un uomo d'affari senza scrupoli, sarà il giovane Ting, esperto lottatore di Muai-Thai, a cercare di recuperare la statua.

Sturges. Ambientazione suggestiva, buon uso tattico dello spazio e una costante ombra di morte sull'azione e sui personaggi, tutti ben serviti dagli interpreti. La bella canzone dell'inizio è cantata da Frankie Laine.
