A body is pulled out of the sea and it becomes clear this was neither a suicide nor accident… it was murder.

To the modern viewer, it may seem peculiar that there are several movies in which a man sneaks a kiss off a young woman in a darkened railway car, all produced in the first few years of the motion picture.

Young lovers separate, she to a career on the stage and he to remain in the small village in which they grew up. Years pass and he is hired to be a porter for a theater company and finds her, a far different woman who does not recognize him.

Juliette refuses to go to school. She doesn’t want to walk through those hostile doors. The girls at school push her around, they make her life miserable. She is unwilling to live anymore, because living makes her suffer. Only her tender imagination allows Juliette to escape this anxious reality.

After the war in Croatia. Everyday life and the way things were during this civil war. A war which was started by the Others, a war no one wanted an which is not really over, although the fighting has stopped. The breakup of the former Yugoslavia and the birth of a new nation is the backdrop in front of which people live their lives.

Max is informed by his rich uncle that he's tired of supporting him. Instead, he has a farmer friend and he wants Max to marry one of the farmer's daughters. However, the farmer decides that his oldest is for Max and has the youngest dress up like a maid. However, Max finds himself drawn to this 'maid' and although he wants to follow his uncle's advice, his heart is leading him to who he thinks is a common working girl. It all culminates in a cute final scene.

Everyone has their own buzz. For him, the high is war. He was in love with the war as a woman, and the feelings did not go away. He can't go back into battle. All he has now is the house of mercy, the monastery on the next street, and the desire to start a different life.
