Partnering up with his daredevil friend and guinea pig Buddy Munro, the pair will travel the globe to remake some of the world’s most hair-raising virals and find out the science behind them (or not). By unpicking the footage frame by frame, Tim uses his engineering insights to uncover the elegant scientific principals behind each of these seemingly fluky stunts. The laws of science will be put to the test, but will Tim and Buddy’s adventures result in a triumphant win or an epic fail?

Both Mahmoud and Zeinab join hands to search for the original version of the first Egyptian independent film that was made back in the 1980s, all copies of which were either destroyed or confiscated for unknown reasons by the government film agency, an entity that governed film production and distribution at the time.

Viktor Rybak, author of many film reports and documentaries in the period 1923-1930, founded his own company for the production and film lab processing in 1931. This experimental fragment was created because of Rybak’s intimate amateur enthusiasm: it was made without pretensions to public display and commercial exploitation. According to Rybak, without the title and “trailer”, the film was made in cooperation with employees of his company. He also remembered the name of the cartoonist: Miroslav Modic. This is the first preserved film strip with animated drawings made in Zagreb.

An experimental drama with the motif of "experimental film". What does it mean to be reproduced on film? Under the theme of fundamental questions, it will express the relationship between men and women with a mysterious visual beauty. The story gradually increases in illusion, and the audience is brought into the world of the hero's heart.

Hebei origin, air-force officer retiree, Mr. Chou, now diligently learning Taiwanese, met “Chang Jiang No. 1,” China’s top secret agent during Sino-Japanese war, on a Peking opera’ seminar. Chou’s flat moon life has then been sparkled. He started to talk around about the heroic accomplishments this “Chang Jiang No.1” had done. This person, “who contributes most to China,” gradually becomes Chou’s only mark on the Moon. Is “homesickness” a gene? Inheritable? Transplantable? Can be parted or chosen? Contagious? Needs regular purging like computer viruses? … Through the story between Mr. Chou and “Chang Jiang No.1.” the film uses lively rhythm to represent the interesting homesickness issue. The director adopts a humorous way to re-present these new Taiwanese in Taiwan. As for whether “Chang Jiang No.1” is a real person or not is up to the audience to decide.

One man's journey through depressing urban environment.

There is an opinion that science is born within the walls of metropolitan universities. But there are other researchers as well. Their inventions appear in small villages and urban suburbs, in home workshops and garage boxes.

Founded in 1980, Lan Ling Theater is the first experimental theater company in Taiwan and the main promoter of the small theater movement. The troupe was disbanded in 1991. Since then, every ten years, everyone starts to re-perform together. In April 1983, “Experimental Actors Studio" premiered in Taipei. In May 2018, they delivered four performances at the National Theater. In the next four years, they toured nine cities and had 20 performances. The original class reunion turned out to be more like a graduation trip.

In the 1960s, frustrated by the growing problem of urban pollution, Athelstan Spilhaus, a visionary scientist and futurist comic strip writer, assembled a team of experts to develop a bold experiment: the Minnesota Experimental City (MXC). MXC would be the city of the future, a domed metropolis for 250,000 pioneering residents, built from scratch and using cutting-edge technology to prevent urban sprawl and pollution. Things didn’t quite go as planned, as explored in Chad Friedrichs’ fascinating look back at the would-be city of tomorrow.

From the little theaters of the 1920s to the ad hoc film societies of the 50s, avant-garde cinema knew no established form and held no predictable position. The boundaries of its history are still hotly debated, but its rough sensibilities informed and permeated the city symphonies of Alberto Cavalcanti, the visual music of Mary Ellen Bute and John Whitney, the classroom films of Sidney Peterson, the confessional film poems of Willard Maas and John E. Schmitz, the Lettrist cinema of Marc’O, and even marginal exploitation films and home movies. Drawn from the rich collections of Raymond Rohauer and the George Eastman House, Kino’s third volume of experimental films continues to illuminate the degree to which cinema’s evolution has been influenced by those filmmakers who occupy its periphery.

Innovative and influential musician Tom Verlaine, joined by celebrated producer and guitarist Jimmy Rip, reawaken the spirit of the avant grade film as they perform a series of newly composed musical scores. The ground breaking works of Man Ray, Watson & Weber, Fernand Leger and Hans Richter take on new life wrapped in scores that are by turns playful, haunting, serene and intense. Verlaine was the guiding force behind the band Television, which ushered in a new era of independent pop music in the 1970s. After releasing a series of award winning solo albums, Verlaine was hailed by The New York Times in 1996 as, "a visionary artist with his creativity and energy undimmed." As composer, producer, singer and sideman, Rip has collaborated with such music legends as Jerry Lee Lewis, Mick Jagger and Deborah Harry. He has recorded with Verlaine since 1981.

A selection of seven films from a contemporary cinema, removed from Bollywood, that testifies to the richness of creativity in India. Oscillating between documentary, video art, experimental film, and animation, this compilation explores the means with which the texture of memory is incorporated within post-colonial Indian society's individual journeys as well as the national psyche; within private circles as well as public spaces. It allows for contrasting points of view regarding the country's situation and its unanswered question: when the past has yet to catch up with the present, is it a threat or an alternative to the present?
