15 seconds a day for 365 days. This is the basic premise of the "Year Feature" challenge taken on by filmmaker Scotty Leonard. But within this challenge, Scotty creates a visceral self-portrait, exploring what it takes to be an underground filmmaker, cat-owner, boyfriend, and low-level assistant in New Mexico's film industry in the year 2021. Get ready for psychedelic dreamscapes, caffeinated mania, eccentric soundtracks, Japanese-speaking cats, street art, and more as Scotty explores what routines and detours make his troubled existence so unique.

Endless Dreams and Water Between is a feature film with four fictitious characters sustaining an epistolary exchange in which their “planetary thought” is woven with the physical locations they inhabit, visual and aural characters in themselves: the island of Manhattan, the island of Majorca, in Spain, and the islands and peninsula that form the San Francisco Bay Area. The characters’ reflections and dreams enact what could be described as “an archipelagic mind,” linking worlds, time, and space.

High expectations from parents, teachers and future employers last on shoulders of young Jiaotong University students, like Wu and Tang, the protagonists of this film. At the same time there’s an urge to find a romantic companion and experience more in life than a well paid job in the future. Today’s job market in Shanghai is tough. Only the best will make it. There is a general belief that after the job situation is settled, everything else will fall into place. Is there anything more important in life than having career opportunities? How do you fall in love on a University Campus with 20’000 students? How do you cope with personal struggles and uncertainties? Those are questions I was interested when filming at one of Chinas Elite Universities.

Facing an unacceptable reality, a teacher is trying to reclaim relationships with his family, students and former friends. Reassessing his past, he contemplates how to go on with his life.
