A doctor (Vishnuvardhan) falls in love with his student (Suhasini) but fails to tell her about his feelings. When he finally musters courage to tell her she tells him that her marriage is fixed to Jai Jagadeesh. Vishnuvardhan cannot forget her and slowly withdraws into a shell. Meanwhile, Jai Jagadeesh starts suspecting his wife because she gives importance to hospital and starts misbehaving with her. Suhasini discovers that Vishnuvardhan is terminal and may not survive for long. She starts taking more care of him in hospital. This frustrates her husband even more and he fights with Vishnuvardhan. Suhasini goes home to explain to her husband but discovers that her husband has abused the maid. She decides to leave him but Vishnuvardhan tries to convince her husband that his relationship with Suhasini is pure. Jai Jagadeesh misbehaves with Vishnuvardhan and Suhasini gets hurt while trying to make sense with her husband. Finally Vishnuvardhan dies saving her baby.

The film observes a young man's return from city living to the village. The film's mood is sorrowful. He leads a very wayward life and tries not to get himself attached to family ties but eventually gets drawn into the bondage of relationships and family by his step sister.

Bandanaya (Sinhalese: බන්ධනය), is a 2017 Sri Lankan Sinhala Black-n-white horror film directed and produced by Udayakantha Warnasuriya. Musical score was done by Nadun Rathnayake. It stars Cyril Wickramage, Hemal Ranasinghe, Dulani Anuradha in lead roles along with Swinetha Weerasinghe, Nilmini Thennakoon and Ravindra Yasas. The film was released in 50 CEL circuit cinemas in addition to 12 cinemas which screen the movie in 3D format. The film trailer was released in October 2016. The opening screening was held in Regal Theatre, Colombo.It is the 1273rd Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.

The film is a revenge drama of a woman, played by Vaishnavi, who is killed by her in-laws mercilessly and her spirit entering into a doll. The doll takes up the revenge against each of them who was involved in her murder. The film was a remake of Tamil film Vaa Arugil Vaa (1991) which itself was loosely inspired from 1988 American film Child's Play. The film's music was composed by Rajan-Nagendra and cinematography is by D. V. Ramana.
