After a massive earthquake razed a Chinese city to the ground, thousands of parents who lost their children are encouraged to give a new birth so that they can move on with their lives. AFTER THE RAIN follows two of these families for over a decade. Haunted by fear, resentment, and unspeakable grief, the families find hope beyond their intergenerational trauma is hard to build.

A young woman tries not to become conformist like her parents, while her fiancee who had similar views, gradually became one. However it turns out that she cannot distance from her own background either.

Juana is a 30 year old woman that, up til now, hasn’t allowed herself to be happy. An unexpected encounter with Gustavo, her ex-boyfriend, revives her most impenetrable emotions. From that moment, Juana feels forced to challenge her sadness, accept what happened, and face what is yet to come.

Eleven-year-old Aisha wants to fish for a living, but her mother thinks that fishing should be left to men. Aisha’s life transforms when fisherman Hassan decides to teach her how to fish.

A film that deals with two latent issues: transgender and old age. In the relationship of the two characters, tolerance and acceptance are the main themes.

Toño accompanies Sara, his best friend's girlfriend, to a rock concert. Unable to reach a bus to return to their city, they are forced to spend the night in a cheap hotel room. The intoxication and euphoria of having seen their favorite group make them feel an illusory affinity.

Young Mohamed Dih, who in Seville, returns to his birthplace – a refugee camp in Western Sahara. Time flows differently here: the times of the day are marked by calls to prayer and the seasons – by the rainfall. When a torrential downpour destroys his family’s home, the protagonist stays in the camp for longer to help to rebuild it.

You Are Still There After the Rain

After the Rains is about a woman survivor who builds a flying machine from debris. Her vision is a contemporary myth on environmental destruction caused by society ignoring the consequences of its actions. The global effects of Climate Change show that After the Rains is just as relevant now.

Through a re-imagining of the initial sequence of the film The Wizard of Oz (1939), the fantasy world of cinema and the reality of Judy Garland’s complex life collide. Instead of taking Dorothy to Oz, the twister transports a young, hopeful Garland into the future where she encounters her disillusioned adult self.

Dada came out of the craziness of World War One. "The birth of Dada was not the beginning of art but of disgust." Surrealism tried to systematize Dada's anarchy into an artistic blend of Freudian psychoanalysis and Marxist provocation. In the interests of conquering the irrational, Salvador Dali opened exhibitions dressed in a diving suit, Marcel Duchamp turned himself into woman, Benjamin Peret assaulted priests, and Yves Tanguy ate spiders. Andre Breton, nicknamed "the Pope of Surrealism", led an inspired gang of artists, lunatics and writers. By the 1950s they were denouncing each other for betraying the movement, but their ideas had infected Hollywood, advertising agencies and were turning up as TV humor and album covers.

The story of the movie is about the complexity of a distopic world. A wrecked world can be unpredictable but the results are worse to stand.

A rain all of a sudden divide mankind apart. The ones who get wet in the rain and else. The ones get in the rain lose their minds. A handful of people, trying to protect themselves against both the rain and also the “crackheads”

Someone named this as the doomsday. Who get crazy?

The ones who get wet in the rain? or,

The ones who suppose they don’t? It’s no matter why it rains, it’s the protection effort of the people against the rain.

In San Francisco, many years after his hideous crimes, the fiendish water creature Vodník emerges from Czech folklore to recount his beguiling tale.

"This is a street scene. The rain has just ceased, and passers-by are lowering their umbrellas. A well-dressed young man meets a pretty girl beneath an awning over a shop door. While they are standing there, the shopkeeper lowers the awning, which has accumulated a lot of water, and the two are thoroughly drenched. This picture has made a big hit."

To be queer is still taboo in mainstream Iranian society; it is considered sinful and unnatural, or at best, a psychological illness. Those from the LGBTQIA+ community are often told they bring shame upon their families. They are forced to hide their identity or risk abandonment and isolation. THE SKY AFTER RAIN —through a formalistic synthesis of recorded interviews, sound design, and choreographed dance—tells the story of Shaya; her attempts at testing society’s rigid gender boundaries and the transphobic events which eventually led to her making a difficult decision.

“I never got to feel the warmth of a loving family.” That is what Seishiro notes down in 1948, who was adopted as a child by the idealistic Eichiro. In 1980, Izumi works at a bank and she lives with her mother Ito. Twenty-two years later, in the evening on a winter night and the day before Izumi is to marry, her mother tells Izumi about her late father's dream, Seishiro. Her father's dream was of Izumi's marriage. Izumi reminisces about her loving father. What happened in the meantime? In reversed chronological order this movie tells a story about a man who had much to give and what he got in return.
