Few years ago (1987 - 88), I've been "victim" of chronic hallucinations. In front of the mirror, I was able to see my face distorting itself and transforming in strange creatures which, however, looks like it. Variations Colorées / Spectres (Work in progress) is one more step in my cinematographic works set about the theme of self-portrait. This one, becomes pretext to formal experimentations evolving to abstraction.

A self-assured journalist interviews a college student who believes that she's seen a ghost.

When a group of college friends on a weekend trip to the back woods of Kentucky trespass through an Native American burial ground, they unwittingly unleash the wrath of an ancient evil. As they experience increasing levels of peril and hauntings, they discover there is a place where technology and evil cross paths, and both are more than deadly.

Jean grew up in a community under the influence of a guru named Chris. Years after escaping its grip, he receives a mysterious package. Chris has just died and Jean's sister who has lived all this time reclusive by his side sends him recordings. In these mysterious sound and visual archives, Jean rediscovers voices and sounds emerging from the past. On the tapes, interviews between members of his family and Chris. The memories start to come back : Jean decides to follow in the footsteps of the missing guru to try and decipher his family history.

By using techniques such as direct manipulation and optical printing, this work was meamorphosed from found fotage originally existing as a documentary film on Ancient Greece to it's existing form. This short pieces is the result of an independent study with Jean Théberge as my advisor. My approach was to subject the original film to constant experimentation as would an archeologist, peeling and re-layering scenes by means of collage, referencing the original images under multiple layers of psychedelic imagery

The filmmakers restages a Sanni Yakuma healing ritual that was performed over a 12-hour period.

Spectreman flies out to destroy Russ Abbott. In his disco lair, Abbott detects Spectreman and Prepares horrible weapon. Mayhem ensues!
