Vitaly and Victor have been friends all their lives. They were born in 1936 in the Kyrgyz USSR, survived the famine during World War II, graduated from school in the year of Stalin's death, and left for central Russia to build communism. Now they are over eighty. The system to which they devoted their lives collapsed, the homeland became a separate country. Together they decide on a desperate journey to Kyrgyzstan to find the graves of their parents and take stock.

"Gagarin’s Pioneers" is a journey of the director in search of his classmates from the 52nd school of the city of Lviv, with whom he studied in Soviet times. These are thirty-three short films about the author's thirty-three classmates. Today, several people still live in Lviv. The rest have gone all over the world. What unites the former pioneers of the Gagarin detachment now? What is the Motherland for them today, to which they swore an oath when they joined the pioneers in the spring of 1973?

Honza was born in 1974 into the cheerless era of socialism in Czechoslovakia. At that time, his parents Jana and Petr lived in one room in the apartment of Jana's divorced mother and her widowed grandmother. A few years later, the family moved from Prague to Liberec where Petr found a job and a little house for the family. When Honza was born, his father began writing a family chronicle and he has continued to do so for 37 years. "Private Universe" show not only the life of one ordinary family, but also how the Czech society has changed in last four decades. Who are we, where do we come from and where do we go?

Adolf Hitler consistently hushed up or denied his family lineage for fear that his ragtag bunch of ancestors and living relatives could tarnish his reputation or expose his imperfect Aryan background. His family had a history of psychiatric disorders, and his second cousin, Aloisia Veit, was locked up in an asylum for nine years before being sent to the gas chambers for being "unworthy of life". Hitler was embarrassed by his sister Paula, and made her live under the assumed name of Paula Wolf. Paula became engaged to Dr Erwin Jekelius, medical director of the asylum who sent hundreds of mentally ill patients, including Aloisia Veit, to their deaths.

The first day of the war brings tragedy to a peasant woman, Pasha. Her husband and her toddler son die before her eyes. She and the other villagers leave to go into the woods. Pasha leads the villagers to fight some German troops. Coming out victories, the partisans become a feared opponent of the Germans, with the leadership of Comrade P.
