Elektra, My Love (89 min, 2021) is a kammerspiel-film set in the moody, cavernous ruin of the Piccadilly Theater, Beirut’s extravagant art palace destroyed after the Lebanese Civil War, the film recounts three days in the life of five actresses. The women seek to revive the ghostly theater with an experimental production of Sophocles’ Elektra. In writing and directing the film, I wanted to show the austere fall of the people of Beirut after decades of war, within my own dream of the passage of the soul.

A documentary which looks at the evolution of the comic book Elektra. It includes remarks from artist/writer/Elektra creator Frank Miller, inker Klaus Janson, artist Bill Sienkiewicz, and writers Brian Michael Bendis and Greg Rucka. We learn about Miller's start with Daredevil and his creation/development of Elektra, what others brought to the character and her further explorations, facets of the artwork, and various takes on her.

Strauss and his librettist, Hugo von Hofmannstahl, transformed Sophocles' take on Homer's tale into a harrowing opera noir. Elektra lives for one reason, to kill her mother, Klytämnestra, and her stepfather, Aegisth, the murderers of her father, Agamemnon. In contrast to Elektra's vengeful obsession, her sister Chrysothemis desires to get on with life. When their long-missing brother, Orestes, returns to do the deed, Elektra celebrates with a dance of death and, her sole purpose in life fulfilled, dies. Strauss joined the hermetic plot to music of the utmost opulence, violent and yearning by turns, evoking the cardinal principles of Greek tragedy - pity and terror.

Les techniques mises en œuvre sont complexes et particulièrement dangereuses, d'autant que le démantèlement de chaque site peut durer jusqu'à 60 ans. En période de restrictions budgétaires généralisées, elles sont aussi très onéreuses. Pour mener l'enquête, le réalisateur est allé à la rencontre de physiciens, de militants antinucléaires et de salariés de centrales.
