The 300 million yen robbery (San Oku En Jiken), also known as the 300 million yen affair or incident,was the single largest heist in Japanese history at the time. It occurred on the morning of December 10, 1968, in Tokyo,Japan. Half a century later, the case remains unsolved. 7 years later,just before just before the statute of limitations, Sawatari, a journalist, found out about the mind behind the crime is Matsuda, a businessman currently living in America. He traveled to America and asked Matsuda for the truth. Matsuda told him a story of how he, a former police officer, became friends with Joe, a bad boy, and Rock, who is shy and sensitive. Matsuda's sister committed suicide after being raped, and Matsuda lost his job after he made a scene in the financial institute his sister used to work. Matsuda, Joe, and Rock decided to do something big in revenge, so they decided on robbing a cash carrier.

It is the first anniversary of Uuno and Elisabet. Uuno has placed a bet with his friend Härski-Hartikainen a year ago, that if Uuno can take just one year of marriage with Elisabet, Hartikainen will treat him a festive dinner. However, Hartikainen buys a lottery ticket for Uuno, who agrees to deduct it from his debt – and the festive dinner is reduced to a can of milk and half a sausage. As time goes by it is revealed, though, that Uuno is not actually a lottery winner, and so he has to escape the anger of others to Härski's car repair shop.
Brad Sexton and his wife, Caroline, are wealthy New Yorkers with both marital and financial problems. The latter issue becomes a pressing matter when they discover that their accountant has embezzled millions and pinned the blame on them. Forced to go on the lam, Brad and Caroline end up in an Amish area of Pennsylvania and decide to pose as members of the religious group to evade the IRS.
