Qui n'a pas connu le stress d'un déménagement ? Surtout quand on est un jeune écrivain comme Alain, sur le point de quitter une bonne maison d'édition pour écrire un sitcom pour la télévision, que sa femme est sur le point d'accoucher et de surcroît quand les déménageurs sont des Roumains qui travaillent au noir et qu'ils n'ont pas vraiment le sens de la ponctualité...

Clovis has eight hours in which to move his household to a tonier apartment. Fortunately, he has his uncle and a circle of good friends to help him get settled in before his girlfriend arrives from England. This bittersweet French slice-of-life film follows their struggle to get the job done in time. The friends include two outspoken women, the clumsy younger brother of his friend, a good-humored bank clerk, and a reserved young man who works at a local mortuary. Later the workers are joined by a Swiss violinist who has come to Paris for an important audition.

When Max decides to move, he obviously calls his best friend to help him. However, when it is someone else who shows up for the meeting, the story becomes complicated.

Popeye and Bluto are, believe it or not, pals and partners in a moving company. (Maybe it's because Popeye isn't squinting here.) Anyhow, Olive has made the mistake of hiring them. She hasn't finished packing yet, so the boys, smitten as soon as she answers the door, compete to help her. Once packed, they compete to move more impressive piles of her belongings. Popeye easily wins these contests, even though Bluto locks him in the van at one point. At the end, Bluto socks Popeye into the piano, then into a table; though he hardly seems to need it, Popeye still eats his spinach, then thrashes Bluto.

Donald and Mickey are overdue on their rent, so the sheriff is preparing to evict them and sell their belongings. Goofy the ice-man comes by and helps them move out before the sale, but their piano doesn't want to stay on his truck. Meanwhile, Donald has a fight with a plunger and a fishbowl after removing a heater from the gas line.
