Discuss Ken Berry

Very sad to lose this very famous actor with fine talents in musicals, comedies and dramas on all those show for all those years.

Always seems like the nicest guy around town on his regular programs F-Troop, Mayberry #RFD, Mama's Family, and also on Burnett, Lucy, Campbell, Sonny & Chér, Movie of the Week, Herby, and all.

Ken would brighten up that screen by presenting his exceptional fine sense of humor, as well as proving his dramatic timing, and also through improving the art of his professional tap dancing.

Here's to Ken. Thank you for many fine jobs well done.

I somehow completely missed - till now - hearing anything about Ken Berry's passing. RIP to him.

With as many popular shows as he was on, he'll always live on in reruns!

True all the way around!

Although the reports sort of came and went, along with many other celebrities in 2018, Ken didn't seem to rate very much well-deserved attention around Hollywood.

For one thing, his ex, Jackie Joseph, had painted his marital reputation as a sort of irresponsible monster, contrary to his public persona. She even formed a movement among Hollywood ex-wives to belittle Hollywood ex-husbands even though divorce sort of flows around Hollywood as a sort of everyday occurrence.

For another thing, Ken had retired to a quiet life, not remarrying, not acting nor appearing in interview for quite a few years. Some may have been surprised to observe his aging in recent photographs, from the days of his career.

And for yet another thing, Ken's December 01st, 2018 obit follows after only one day of Poppy Bush's November 30th, and much was made in the press and on television about that one.

When someone came up to me in a store to tell me about that, I answered that this is a very sad thing to hear. I never voted for him nor any of his relatives, but that was still sad. She then asked if I voted for that current maniac, and my expression just said it all because quite a few around the store got a pretty good kick out of that one.

Not on Poppy Bush's account, but, well, you still never heard very much good about that bunch, but still it's very sad to lose celebrities whether they go out with pomp and circumstance or not very much fanfare at all, right?

I was surprised to learn, when I looked at Mr. Berry's Wikipedia article, that he lived to age 85. I'll always think of him as being or seeming young/youngish - never looking older than around age 60. No doubt the reason for that is that he retired from acting circa 1999, when in his mid 60s. As a result, he's mainly remembered for his work from when in his 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Ken Berry is someone I don't recall ever reading/hearing much, if anything, about his personal life. I just remember him from his many television appearances. I was born during the 1960s, and he was extensively on t.v. during my childhood, teen, and early adulthood years. As you mentioned, he always seemed thoroughly likeable and like the nicest guy.

By the way, now that I think about it, I kinda/sorta think I may have seen a flash about his death on the t.v. news in early December, though, if so, I'm pretty sure it was just his picture briefly on the screen while giving his passing mention in 15-20 seconds or less. It's always sad when that's the extent that the death of a popular celebrity from the past gets.
