Bing (given name Harry) Crosby, one of the most successful entertainers of the 20th Century, was a huge star of not only the recording industry and of films, but also of television specials. He was, from since the early 1930s, the ultimate "Mr. Cool" of crooners, with a trademark smooth, effortless-seeming, laid-back singing style that made his recordings sure-thing popular hits.
His films White Christmas and The Bells of St. Mary's were for decades annual holiday staples on t.v., so along with his Crosby Family Christmas television specials, rendered him, pretty effectively, during his latter decades, and for quite some time posthumously, "Mr. Christmas" to general public perception.
One of his children is daughter Mary (born 1959), who after her father's time went on to appear, very prominently, on the hit t.v. series Dallas. It was none other than the character, Kristin, she portrayed who wound up being the person who so mega-famously shot J.R.
