  • Der britische Schauspieler James D’Arcy wurde als Simon Richard D’Arcy am 24. August 1975 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire geboren und ist in London aufgewachsen. Er ist vor allem wegen seiner Rollen in Master & Commander – Bis ans Ende der Welt, Cloud Atlas – Alles ist verbunden und The Philosophers – Wer überlebt? bekannt.
  • James D’Arcys Vater starb, als D’Arcy noch sehr jung war, weshalb er und seine jüngere Schwester Charlotte von ihrer Mutter Caroline aufgezogen wurden. Nach seiner Schulausbildung ging D’Arcy für ein Jahr nach Australien und nahm dort bereits an mehreren Schauspielstunden teil. Er entwickelte regelrecht eine Leidenschaft für die Schauspielerei und schrieb sich nach seiner Rückkehr bei der London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) ein. Sein Abschluss folgte 1995.
  • Anschließend begann er seine Karriere mit kleineren Rollen, so zum Beispiel in der Serie gerichtsmediziner-dr-leo-dalton und in Fernsehfilmen wie Das Gespenst von Canterville und Im Eishaus. 2002 verkörperte er Sherlock Holmes im TV-Film Sherlock. Es folgten einige Horrorfilme wie Exorzist: Der Anfang und Rise: Blood Hunter, bis mit Cloud Atlas – Alles ist verbunden und Hitchcock weitere Hit-Filme kamen.
