Ever since his boyhood experience with a burglar in his house, Mamoru has made security a major theme in his life. Joining a security firm, gaining early promotion and his engagement to the daughter of the company director has brought him a very happy point in his life. But on the way to a business meeting, he meets Misa, a woman dressed in mourning, who seems to bear a deep grudge against him although he has no idea who she is. A string of mysterious deaths has occurred, leaving all of the victims with a purple butterfly-shaped bruise. According to investigators, the victims have all died from a hypnotic suggestion. The police bring in renowned psychiatrist Toshiya Saga, who specializes in hypnotic cures, to help with the investigation. He is determined to solve the mystery, but is caught off-guard when the woman he is attracted to becomes a suspect in the investigation.

Eri and Shuji meet as next door neighbors and over the course of a year become lovers. Yumi stumbles into the room, looking for somewhere to change out of her kimono, and finds popular comic book writer Reijiro Sakurai is having an editorial meeting with some staff. He is planning to lock himself away at a hot spring for the next three months to concentrate on his next project. Sakurai comments that if Yumi were to join him he wouldn't mind being away for so long..., and so their adventure begins.

This is a story about the detectives at the Jinnan Police Station in Harajuku, Tokyo. Azumi Tsuyoshi, head of the Criminal Affairs Department trusts his staff and usually does not interfere with their investigation. However, one day, a dead body is found in the neighborhood. Toyo Ota, a neighbor, is spotted screaming into a microphone towards the victim's house. Azumi who thought this was strange felt the need to investigate this case himself. He starts talking to her and they become friends, but the next day, Toyo surprises him by saying that she is the one who killed the woman and surrenders to the police.

Nowadays, kids have their parents wrapped around their fingers. While they appear to despise their parents, they are actually insecure and want someone to give them love, guidance, and support. Although Katsura is sometimes absent-minded, she is a strong, independent woman. Junichiro proposes to her for the second time in 30 years. During this 30-year span, Junichiro was widowed three times, and fathered four children. Katsura agrees to move into the Aoki household as a live-in housekeeper and marry him only if his children learn to love her. This is a comedic and sometimes touching story about Katsura's experiences as she tries, in her own way, to win the children's hearts and trust.

October 15, 1999

Kyosuke, an excellent plastic surgeon, started living a very private life after his wife passed away, confining his main joys in life to cultivating his herb garden and spending time with his only daughter. One day, a woman enters his clinic and asks that her face be completely changed to whatever Kyosuke wishes. Kyosuke is very suspicious and refuses her request, but she begs him to reconsider and explains that she is trying to escape from her violent husband. Kyosuke finally agrees and alters her appearance to that of his late wife. Afterwards, a relationship begins to develop between the two of them, but things start to unravel when two police officers show up on his doorstep looking for the "missing" woman.
