From a simple misunderstanding, a kind, funny story has grown about charming village people, about ridiculous situations in which they periodically find themselves.
MURA operative Konstantin Troshin returns from the front after the victory in the Great Patriotic War and finds out that he no longer works in the police. The reason is a conflict with an influential general of the NKGB of the USSR. But Troshin cannot imagine his life without the police. He manages to get a job as a precinct officer in the most disadvantaged area of Moscow — Maryina Grove.
The year is 1949. Former front-line soldier and former investigator Sergei Gastev departs from investigative activities, faced with an unexpected problem of official mutual assistance. Attempts to restore justice almost end up in prison for himself. Gastev decides to limit his activities to teaching Roman law at the university of a small regional town. In Sergei's personal life, too, everything is not easy: the affair with the city Komsomol leader Lyudmila Mishina has to be carefully hidden...
Segunda Guerra Mundial, verano de 1944. Frente ruso. Tras prolongadas y sangrientas batallas, el Ejército Rojo ha hecho retroceder a los invasores alemanes hasta la frontera oeste de Rusia.
