Discuss The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

When Nuka was killed, do you think Zira truly cared for him? She did abuse him alot, and threatened to kill Vitani in the end. So, did she really give a flying crap for her kids?

Different things I hear, you could tell me which camp you're in, or if you have a different thought.

  1. My mother states she was only upset Nuka died because she needed him to help kill Simba. lol

  2. On Tropes, it states she loves her kids, but becoming more consumed with revenge, she lost sight of it after Nuka's death, and getting more angry. Kinda a Villainous Breakdown.

  3. Her "love" is limited, and she only cares so long as her kids do what she wants, otherwise they're expendable. Nuka died doing what she wanted-going after Simba.

I feel LK2's creators wanted to show Scar as having fallen due to his anger, and make Zira follow the same path.

Look back in the original, Scar had a great life, he was brother of the king, the only other male, he was always resting and did no effort. he could do whatever he wanted. In fact, this position is even better than being king, because he had no responsibility and had to worries. When some trouble happened, it was Mufasa who was informed and called to handle.

They made Zira obssessed with Scar and revenge, I think she only cared about Kovu because Scar pointed him and successor.
