Discuss Coming to America

I heard Eddie and Arsenio talking about doing a sequel to this movie.

I heard that too. I personally would not want a sequel. I recently watched it again over Christmas week with some family, and I think it's a good stand alone type film.

I know in this day and time, older films are being remade or brought back, but I just think it's unnecessary. Similarly, I didn't think Clerks ever needed a sequel either, but we got that maybe 12 or so years after the original.

THE PLOT CONCERNS MURPHY COMING BACK TO AMERICA TO FIND A SON HE HAS NEVER MET.IM NOT TOO HIGH ON THIS ONE...CLERKS 2 WAS AWESOME BTW 10 YEARS LATER.TOO BAD WE MISSED THE TIMING FOR CLERKS 3.BUT JAY AND SILENT BOB GET A REBOOT IS UNDER WAY SO..YAY.

I don't see how he could have a son. He was wooing Lisa the whole time and didn't find the other ladies queen material.

Maybe from one of his staff who cleans him lol then moved to America. Agree that it doesn't need a sequel but for sure I will watch it to see McDowells!

Paramount, as a studio is hitting some tough times, some of their major film franchises have waned (Star Trek, Transformers) and it looks like they're looking at some old catalog movies to make sequels NOBODY asked for (cough..What Men Want..cough)

Coming to America is a CLASSIC to my family, we quote it CONSTANTLY around here and perfect as standalone. It begins like a fairy tale and ends like one...there's really no more story to tell...unless Eddie & Arsenio are merely cameos & they cast some up & coming young actors to play their respective kids to, again, "sow their royal oats".
