Discuss Emily the Criminal

Even Aubrey Plaza herself is not white she's Puerto Rican. Was this another movie with a white people need not apply casting call?

It also kinda furthers the stereotype that POC are the chief criminals in society. I wonder if that was intentional. It's not completely untrue as statistics show second only to the government and people in positions of authority and power.

This was filmed in LA where there are still plenty of white people left, even if sometimes it doesn't seem that way.

I don't have a problem with a movie with no white people in it. But it's just a double standard.

Audiences and even Plaza herself seem to be divided over whether or not she qualifies as white or not. Ion a sense, The US is becoming more similar to all points south of the border with each passing day. In most parts of Latin America, folks who are the color of bronze have been referring to themselves as "white" for over two centuries. The same may soon be true here in The Grand Ol' Fitty"

I was referring to white as in European ancestry. I realize some people are multiracial or are just Mediterranean and have European ancestry but that's not what I meant.

Aubrey still has skinny attractive female privilege and doesn't sound like a Latina so that's probably why people think she's white.

Actually there is a white guy in this movie played by Craig Stark. He's straggly as fuck and he robs Audrey Plaza with a box cutter to her throat. That's what they do now. They don't put any white people in it except to make the white dude the villain unless his love interest is a POC then he's just a milquetoast.

I count at least 6 'white' people in this movie.

Check out Aubrey Plaza's encounter with De Niro in the final minutes of Dirty Grandpa. There are definitely parts of her that aren't as a pale as others. And I mean this as a compliment

Aubrey at a Hollywood event.

She's looking rather bronzed there, and perhaps a shade or two lighter than myself. A guy who's regularly stopped by TSA for suspicion of being either a suicide bomber or a cocaine smuggler
