meanwhile, this is the official website for the movie and it titles the movie as sorcerers stone. https://www.warnerbros.com/movies/harry-potter-and-sorcerers-stone/

OK, I'll try to explain it. The movie was first released in the UK and since it was also (half) a UK production that means we stay with this title as the original. The original book title also aligns with the original movie title, while the US title was changed both for the US book and later the US movie release. They even shot all scenes where the title word was mentioned in two versions!
Interestingly, per IMDb rules the original IMDb title should be Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (that's the title used for the world premiere in London) but many years back they decided to change it incorrectly. The fact that the US Warner website carries the US title is no surprise.
So while there can be a good case made for using the US title as original, we decided a long time ago to stick with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as original. Thanks.
