Discuss Nobody

Watched yesterday, while funny ocassionally it's just dumb mediocre STV flick which would be at best 5-6/10, if it didn't have famous name in credits, can't believe rating it has here (84%). It brings literally nothing new to genre, just some dumb untouchable action hero with predictable action/ending. Only things standing a bit out is violence level. On the positive note at least it's not even 90mins long so I didn't waste that much time.

Does anyone really believe Odenkirk being capable of those things with his physique? Same goes for Neeson whose action movies are unwatchable trash.

Lol, I didn't like this movie either for my own reasons, but the movie is an action parody more than just an action movie. All characters are so exaggerated and cliché I don't think it can be done unintentionally. So whether he is believable or not as an action hero is not really a valid question here. Same way you can't really ask if Saitama in One-Punch man is believable to kill huge monsters with just one punch, the issue is simply irrelevant in the context of the show. He just is.

But there are ways to do ironic and self aware action movie, and Nobody is just a bad example of it. The action scenes are directed very nicely, but technical vision only will not make this movie any good if you don't have a dramatic skills to write a good dialog. This is where the movie is weak and cringy and for me it ruins it.

As for Neeson, I think he is more believable as action hero. His movies are mostly garbage indeed, but not because of his acting and not because of his physical presence and action. They are both far from being ridiculous like Seagal and it says something.

I'm on the totally opposite end of this conversation, I liked the movie a lot because it's clearly not taking itself too seriously. I thought Odenkirk was great for this particular kind of role because the action is only about 30% of the movie while the other 70% is about a family man in a sexless marriage living a boring mundane life trying to fight the urge to use violence and THAT is what sold me on Odenkirk in the action bits because I want him to win and he's getting the shit kicked out of him for much of it (which is hilarious).

Also Doc Brown blowing Russians away with shotguns put a smile on my face. But to answer the original question Neeson is worse, but only because he didn't quit after the first Taken. If Odenkirk tried to do 7 more of these then it would be ridiculous.

Hold up a sec - did my comment about how Odenkirk was a more believable action star than Johansson as Black Widow or Theron as Atomic Blonde get deleted? How utterly pathetic. A movie forum where you're not allowed to discuss your opinion on movies.

I thought Odenkirk was unbelievable in the role. I kept thinking there was no way he could pull off most of the fight scenes. My disbelief towards Liam Neeson was short lived. I can get lost in his movies and don't question how he does it.
