The Shape is pure evil. Evil never dies.

So quit with the "once and for all/the end/final" marketing drivel before we get into that ridiculous tussle with the "reborn/new beginning/resurrection" claptrap.

Oh, wait...

This is true.

After all, movie studio executives keep regurgitating the same old franchises with prequel cash grab after spin off cash grab after remake cash grab.

Except in 2022, when evil DOES die in Halloween Ends!

For realsies

EXACTLY! joy

I mean COME ON though...I REALLY don't mind more & more Michael, Jason, Freddy, Chucky, Leatherface, PinHead, GhostFace and whoever else are your favorite baddies! #slashersforever

  • Halloween, 2018: "Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers...."

  • Halloween Kills, 2021: "....that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all."

  • Halloween Ends, 2022: "The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode ends."

It's like words have no meaning with these people.

Look, we get it, the franchise makes money. Go ahead, make money, fill your boots. There's an audience for this stuff, people will go and see them. Just stop teasing us with these meaningless boilerplate descriptions. It's never going to be final, or be once and for all, it won't end. You know it. I know. Vegetable lasagna here knows it.

Thing is, I also know this isn't the only franchise that does this stuff.

  • Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, 1984 was promptly followed by Friday the 13th, A New Beginning, 1985.

  • And then, within the same franchise, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday 1993, was followed by Jason X, 2001.

  • [Edit] The overview for Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) reads: "Determined to finish off the infamous killer Jason Voorhees once and for all blah blah blah exhume Jason’s corpse blah blah blah Jason is instead resurrected, sparking a new chain of..." Why, of sequels, of course!

I could go on, which proves two things: 1) it's obvious I'm fighting a losing battle here. Movie makers do this (I suppose findings from their marketing focus groups and test audiences indicated these words get more eyeballs). So, 2) I guess I'll just have to accept it.

Thank you for letting me rant. It's irksome, but I will find the strength to carry on.

"Halloween Ends Surprises Everyone With New Release Plan"

"Everyone" who? I just recently wrote:

Anyway, from that article, here's a juicy quote: "Even though Curtis herself may be through with the franchise, Halloween creator John Carpenter expects there to be more movies, especially if this next film is successful. At a recent horror convention appearance, Carpenter noted that money was the only motivating factor behind the original Halloween sequels, and suspects they will be again. “I guarantee you if Halloween Ends makes a lot of money, guess what? Just guess what,” he joked, without actually saying more movies would be coming."
