This was a really hard one. So many good films this year. I noticed I had a lot more smaller, independent films here. So either I am slacking on smaller films and world cinema or the quality of them has faded recently. Or maybe less of them get released in western countries these days. I also should have had The Raid as my number one here but I'd used it in my 2012 list.

It's absolutely true that - unless you are lucky enough to be in a major city (and have a lot of disposable income!) it is very difficult to track down so many smaller films. I am lucky in that I have access to a library with a reasonably extensive catalogue of world cinema, but still I find more obscure titles difficult to see. So many of them are not even easily accessible online.
My watch list will always continue to grow faster than I can remove titles from it.
Some good ones on your list, once again. Shame and Martha Marcy May Marlene would probably have made my top ten in some years. I can't believe I haven't seen The Skin I Live In - I think its the only one of Almodovar's movies from the past twenty years or so which I haven't seen yet.

I just about tread water. But I'm needing to be stricter with my choices now. Because of streaming services, more films are being released.

You really need to see The Skin I Live In. If you like the film or not, it's a film that's so bold that it gives you plenty to talk about. It's also best you know as little as possible before you watch it.
Ah, thanks for the reminder... 2010 was a particularly dismal year at the cinema for me, but I shall post what I have and hope that over time I find some gems to make my list more respectable...

Are you doing a Top Ten for 2010 then?
