Jessica Lange is the whole show here, commanding the screen in an otherwise flimsy, thoroughly forgettable drama. The film sat on the shelf for several years before release, and she hit lucky winning the Oscar in a weak year for the Best Actress category for a film that normally wouldn't have gotten a second look. Her work here is terrific and deserves a much better film around it.
