Discuss Ossessione

and still the best version. This film was a rip off of the James M Cain book but they were sued after it was made and negatives destroyed. However, the film survives and is actually the best version of his book! Work checking out.

I have seen it and liked it very much. Interesting, I didn't know it was a rip-off. I thought it was a legit version of the book.

I enjoyed this in fits and starts but I do much prefer The Postman Always Rings Twice, which I found leaner and more consistently gripping. Ossessione is certainly worth a look, however.

I had no idea that the filmmakers were sued - interesting!

Yeah. Apparently the film makers were told to destroy the film after it was made. Luckily it still exists.

Glad we still have the opportunity to watch it today. Thanks for the interesting info, I just stumbled upon this motion picture whilst looking on a list of Italian neorealism. Will definitely watch this one at some point even though I was not the biggest fan of "The Postman Always Rings Twice".
