Discuss Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

'Bird of Prey' Filmmaker Cathy Yan Reflects on Box Office

Shes basically playing the victim and saying men "not ready for female lead movie"....Resident Evil, Aliens, Underworld, Halloween, Wonder woman, Hunger games, Lara Croft, Kill bill, Terminator all female lead and profitable films and or franchises, minus the new Terminator. The horror genre is filled with female leads, but they don’t talk about that either. This woman NEEDS an excuse as to why she directed a bad film, and that excuse is men. Even if they made up of half the film goers to this shit show she directed. Fuck off Cathy.

Except there have been female led films in every genre in every decade. Only now it seems a big deal. Being "a woman of color director " is not the issue. Being of more entitlement than talent is.

Yes! I am so sick of people acting like "a female led movie" is some unique and new thing. Your movie did not fail because it was female led, so start looking somewhere else!

at this point the actual movies are incidental to the ideological grandstanding and posturing...
