I don't think I saw ONE trailer or TV spot back when this was released! Maybe because it was too much like the more strongly promoted (and inferior) Unfriended...nevertheless, I had some Amazon Digital Credit to burn through that expires on March 1st & decided to rent this one for $0.99 and it was the best $0.99 I ever (NOT) spent! I was hooked almost immediately! Unfriended 1 & 2 wishes it was this movie! I urge you to check it out!

Yeah I can't believe how this gem slipped under the radar. It's so much more than a "tech movie", the filmmaker is really breaking new ground with the language of cinema just as Welles did with Citizen Kane or Fritz Lang with "M" and no I'm not exaggerating lol. The angle of telling the entire story through common household devices is really powerful, instantly identifiable, and no easy task either.
From what I've seen in interviews it was a real chore to plan it out, and not just that but explain it to the producers, cast & crew who had no idea of the final vision. There was a strong push to downplay/scrap this unconventional angle and go with regular cinematic scenes but the director was adamant that the whole point of the film is in the way it's told, and it really paid off. This film should've generated a much bigger buzz (especially in the arthouse/film geek circles) for its revolutionary approach. But I guess some of these great films go unnoticed because big budget Hollywood still dominates. But to anyone who's interested or involved in filmmaking or cinema as an evolving art form, this is required viewing!
