What exactly was "disjointed" about the storyline?

The fact that Joker is 30-40 years older than Batman. When batman gets to his prime, Joker would be a pensioner

We don't even know for certain that Arthur Fleck is the Joker we know. He could be more of a precursor to the Joker we know.

Couldn't Joker pass for 20 or 30 in this film? Where are people getting 30-40 from?

Joaquin is 45 and put him to play 20 years old is laughable. In best case, he was 30 in the movie.

It doesn't matter how old the actor playing a role is. It matters what he appears to be. To be honest, I never even considered his age even a little as I watched the film. I think just based on the story and his appearance I would have had to guess he was about 30.
