Looks like Idris Elba is in talks to replace Will Smith as Deadshot in SS2.

I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THE NEWS THAT WILL SMITH WOULDNT BE RETURNING.I ENJOYED HIM AS DEADSHOT...HOWEVER,THEY HAVE MANAGED TO FIND NOT A REPLACENT,BUT A LEGIT UPGRADE.BETWEEN IDRIS ELBA ELEVATING DEADSHOT BEYOND WILL SMITH'S CAPABILITY AND JAMES GUNN BEING BROUGHT IN THIS IS TURNING FROM A MESS I WASNT SURE WOULD EVER HAPPEN INTO ONE OF MY MOST ANTICIPATED UPCOMING RELEASES.

I liked Will Smith in The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. Especially that bit in the opening credits when he whirled his head round and round whilst waiting for someone to let him in.

Im happy with this replacement. I think Elba has better acting chops than Smith honestly. Also looking forward as to what Gunn can do and if the whole pedo jokes will be in the rear by then.

Possibly not the best way to express it. wink

I'd be VERY VERY happy if this happens. IMO, Idris is a casting UPGRADE!

Idris Elba as Headshot

In the sequel, Deadshot will be no doubt be sure to remind us every other scene; he hasn't forgotten the face of his father. He kills with his heart

WHILE THE DARK TOWER WAS 12 POUNDS OF SHIT IN A 5 POUND BAG.IDRIS ELBA WAS THE ONLY SOLID PIECE IN THE FLICK AND HIM SAYING THOSE LINES WHILE BLOWING DUDES AWAY...SO FUCKING COOL.TOO BAD EVERYTHING ELSE PLAYED LIKE SHIT.

If it happens, It would be great. Elba is a great casting choice....probably should have gotten him in the first place.

Floyd Lawton is a white character in the comics but only black actors can play him on the big screen?

Interesting.

I BELEVE THE IDRIS CASTING IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO WILL SMITH BEING BLACK.THE CHARACTER IN FILM IS BLACK AND STAYS THAT WAY THRU CASTING CHANGES BASED ON IN FILM CONTINUITY.

I think he was originally white but then they changed him over to Latin in the newer comics and I guess black for the movies...why? No clue.

I guess he's the "Nick Fury" of the DC Universe (also originally a white character)

Haha its Hollywood, they rarely stick to the source material as Im sure you know.

"He won't be Deadshot."

This was only revealed recently. I think its a good move in case Smith DOES return to the role at a later time!
