Looks like Will Smith won’t be returning for SS 2. Personally, I think this is a big loss for the franchise. He was great in the 1st movie.

That's bad news.

Especially now. He's going to need the money, when Jada The Ratchet takes him for half his earnings during the dissolution of their marriage

That video of them talking about how she cheated and needed it for her...God it breaks me, thats what a broken man looks like.

Let's not forget that they are both not too bright. They were involved with Scientology for a while. Anyone who falls for that nonsense is dumb as fuck.

Damn we are just airing out all of WS dirty laundry here huh? Well either way Im sure WS hasnt always been faithful, after all its Hollywood. But its just sad seeing shit like that.

Like Rumsfeld kicking the bucket, it's sad in the abstract. Not so much when one starts taking all of the details into account in their entirety. Will Smith isn't a middle manager who married his high school sweetheart, never boned any other woman except for her, only to discover that all three of the kids he thought were his were fathered by three different men, thanks to his wife being a hoebag. He's a grossly overpaid entertainer, who ain't the brightest crayon in the box, and who got duped by someone else who's also turning out to be a flake

Were he not a celebrity, and had he not been the former Fresh Prince, who also starred in Independence Day and Men In Black, he'd be the sort of loser who shows up once on Maury or Jeremy Kyle. We'd all laugh at the pathetic grotesqueness of his circumstances for five minutes, and never think of him again

You sir are a monster...but you arent wrong. WS got extremely lucky with Fresh Prince, I mean he isnt the best rapper/singer or even actor. But hes def come along way since those days. He entertaining at times but has to fit a certain role. I also think its hard for him to break out of his comedy roles. But hes def taking on more challenging roles. Honestly Im pretty indifferent to him.

In a previous comment in this thread, I mentioned King Richard. Well, the numbers are in, and they're...curious.

In terms of audience rating, it's cruising here on TMDb at a splendid 78%. Some people are talking Oscar for Will Smith. So, in terms of art/story, it appears to be a very good movie.

Money-wise, yikes. On a $50M budget, it brought in just $30M for a miserable pay of $0.60

It'd seem to me that other factors suppressed audiences (pandemic/social distancing making it tough to go to theatres, sufficient number of people not interested in seeing a story of a Black man as a good father...??)

At any rate, it's clear that Will Smith does not have a Midas touch - he's been in some huge summer blockbusters, but he also does movies for the art and not just a pay cheque.
