Yes, Bette Davis doing her classic "evil lady" schtick, that would only get better as it progressed to "evil, crazy old lady" in '60's classics such as Whatever Happened to Baby Jane and Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte. Her acting in this is so convincing, because you simply can't help but hate her!

And as for Olivia de Havilland, agreed, she is so beautiful in this movie. Her recent passing was sad, but hey, she was 104, and that ain't bad! R.I.P. Dame Olivia de Havilland

Davis was not really fond of the film, and I must say it's hard to be when you take the admiration for the cast aside. The film does not manage to establish any kind of sympathy for Stanley's character. It just follows a spiral that goes out of control and then blows up. To repeat the words of a reviewer: "[...] her evil is so theatrical and so completely inexplicable that her eventual demise in an auto accident is the happiest moment in the film." Was hoping for something better.
