Discuter de Bohemian Rhapsody

Considering the difficult production and the mixed reviews the film has received, I'm very happy to report that there's a lot to enjoy in this Queen biopic!

Not so surprising it was good. The movie was made for fans of Queen, and a success story in real life can't be that hard to create for the silver screen even if it don't meet critic's criteria.

I’m not surprised it was good, but I was surprised at how much I liked it. Just saw it on HBO. Life long Queen fan (Live Killers on vinyl was my first album purchase as a kid) and have seen most documentaries etc. I think it helped I watched with low expectations as musician biopics in general are fine but never an awesome movie...except for maybe Walk Hard. “The wrong brother died Dewey!”

For the start it followed the feel of standard biopics with a lot of time compression. Being a fan I could have watched a 3hr movie but obviously they wanted to have everybody come see it, not just freaks like some of us. I feel Rami did an incredible job on a towering mountain of man to portray and he captured the essence beautifully and speaking voice aside (minor quibble) I was along for the ride with no complaints. The guy playing Brian was almost like a clone. Amazing casting. Deacy was well cast, I would say Roger was a throw away and I never felt I was watching Roger Taylor. The argument about I’m in Love With My Car was awesome though.

Knowing about all the time re-arranging about his diagnosis, when he told the band, whether they technically ever broke up etc, I found the way the movie got to the ending was so well crafted that It didn’t matter. I know the true stuff and a Doc can cover that no sweat. This was so much more about an emotional investment and reaction to a fucking human comet in Freddie Mercury and this movie hit me really hard during that Wembley performance. I think John Ottman did an amazing job of throwing in cuts to amplify the emotions without it feeling melodramatic or like I was being overly manipulated in a contrived way. 49 year old man was crying like a baby lol. It just came back to me so strongly how much I missed his talent and how broken up I was when he passed away. Very good movie for Queen fans, I can’t speak for people indifferent to Queen just watching a movie but if your fan have the tissues ready. Well done to all involved.

I caught it on HBO too just yesterday...I like Queen's music but wouldn't consider myself a "fan". Growing up in Brooklyn, E.NY in the 80s, (I was more Hip Hop)

I'll probably get flamed, but I thought Rami Malek did a great "impression" of Mercury & defintely looked the part...but wouldn't say he deserved the best actor Oscar. Would've loved to have seen what Sacha Baron Cohen would've brought to the role.

Good movie, the music was great, but I think Rocketman was MUCH better (plus kudos to Tarton Egerton for actually singing the songs vs lip syncing)!

When I heard Rocketman wasn't the typical bio pic formula it definitely piqued my interest. I can definitely imagine a casual Queen listener finding Bo Rhap just another decent, but not amazing movie. I'll only speak for myself but as a big fan it hit me right in the feelz. Lol

It was pretty good but completely stagnated for me after the band split with quite a lot of 'made for TV' kind emoting (panto villain, heartrending reunions etc).

Gut the entire film after the band quits, except for a couple of scenes about the band reconciliation, then end on Freddie taking the stage and the film would have lost nothing and I'd have got almost an hour of my life back.

The Live Aid re-enactment inadvertently chimed with Queen complaining about having to mime on Top of the Pops. I'd have been better viewing the real thing on YouTube.
