Did Catherine Keener seem "off" to anyone else?

I love Catherine Keener, and maybe I'm just used to seeing her in movies from 10 years ago, but...her performance seemed very limp to me. She just didn't seem that invested in her role, and although she was probably the biggest actor in the film aside from Stephen Root, she was the weakest. I just felt she lacked her usual presence and sparkle.
I'd be curious to know if anyone thought the same thing or if I'm just crazy.

I think that's your problem - I think the Catherine Keener of today seems oddly to be morphing into the Mary Steenburger of 10 years ago... So the question then becomes who does Mary Steenburger seem reminiscent of these days because that's who Catherine Keener will look 10 years further down the line 😉

I hate to be a nitpicker, but it's Mary SteenburgEN , A Mary Steenburger sounds like it should come with fries and a Coke. :) And I've always loved her as an actress, even though I'm not politically aligned with her or her husband (Ted Danson.) And the next Catherine Keener is pretty much Elizabeth Banks, imo.

Anyways, as an aside - did you see that both her and Ted shall be returning as regulars in the next, definitely happening, season of Curb Your Enthusiasm? I'm very much looking forward to seeing them back in that.

I think she was great. She's always great, and in this movie, she played a character who was off. Really off. And she nailed it.
