For the following reasons:
1) origin stories are captivating 2) a child seer is intriguing 3) the idea of demonic possession being behind those who imprison people in basements was food for thought 4) strong sentimental value with whistle brother/mother connection 5) some good laughs with Tucker’s flirtation 6) food for thought with hate feeding demons
Was it a scary movie? A couple of jump frights but more of a thinker film.

I saw this twice and enjoyed it both times. I thought it was interesting to see how the series started and the relationship the main character had with her brother.
