Discuss Ocean's Eight

Mindy Kaling called the dominance of white male reviewers “unfair”.

...80% were men and 82% white. Such makeup was well-known, said Blanchett, but only belatedly being raised. “When you start pointing that stuff out you realise there’s a certain gaze that looks at women."

...Rotten Tomatoes, which she felt prioritised the views of men.

“I submit to you that men and women are not the same, they like different things,”

...but often I think there is a (white male) critic who will damn it in a way because they don’t understand it, because they come at it at a different point of view...

...actress Brie Larson announced an initiative by the Sundance and Toronto film festivals to allocate 20% of their journalist passes to critics from under represented groups.

“I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time,” said Larson... “It wasn’t made for him!

Haha love when the excuses for failure start to roll in. So apparently only women should review movies with mostly women casts and males shouldnt. Also if you are white you shouldnt review any films where the majority of the cast are people of color. So all the white reviewers that gave Black Panther a good score shouldnt count right? Need to redo that RT score I guess. Same excuse they tried to give Ghostbusters2016, it was only bad because 'you hate women!' No, films are fucking bad because they are bad. The amount of gender or color have nothing to do with that. God I swear Hollywood is getting more and more stupid as days go by.

Well being a female, I'm not remotely interested in watching a group of women do whatever they do. Actually I'm sick of the whole alpha female genre (if there is one). Besides the women of Hollywood have turned into a bunch of feminists who can't take critisism... I'm glad it flopped. grin

Blanchett came to Australia preaching to us about global warming and how the seas would rise then promptly left and bought herself a seaside mansion on some island. I wouldn't waste a cent on watching that hypocrite on cinema.

To be fair, all of Hollywood is full of hypocrites. My favorite is Leonardo DiCaprio talking about global warming and emission pollution and than taking a private jet from the US to Europe to receive an award and than flying back in the same day....real environmentally conscious as you can tell. joy

Make of Life be praised that our schools, churches, government, and doctor's offices are free of such folk

Haha no such thing as free of hypocrisy. grin

I'm white and I just couldn't get into this movie.

I'm not a movie critic, but if I'm going to say such things about a movie; then I guess you can say I am.
