Discuss Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Was it "Let's talk about your future..."? Was that the American Army guy, or was that the drug guy at the very end? I thought the young guy finally ended up getting caught by the American, and it's the end of the movie, but if it was the drug guy...that simply means the young guy is still getting away with doing bad things and opens up more for a sequel.

You got the right quote, yeah.

It was Alejandro, the character played by Benicio Del Toro. The generic 'drug guy' description doesn't really work because he was working with the Americans, but originated in a cartel, so he's kind of both! It was definitely setting up for a sequel, which I wasn't a big fan of, as the original was perfectly standalone and this one should have been too. It was probably the worst scene of the film actually.

Well first, thanks for the explanation. And I agree, that last scene was the worst scene in the movie! That one little moment played out like an ending of a Friday the 13th movie.

Loved the first one, kinda hated this one. I mean they tried but they lacked any of the real tension and character development from the first one. Dont think this made enough money for a third one. But hey at least Moner looked good in it. grin

Their producer seems to think its almost a done deal: https://screenrant.com/sicario-3-confirmed/

I really need to watch this one again, but I think because the original film was such an unexpected work of genius and we all saw it with no preconceptions, its sequel was always going to be less impactful. There were a few bits I think fell short, but overall, compared to the usual action thriller fare we are served up by Hollywood, I still think Soldado is way above average.
