Discuss The Shape of Water

Hello,

I was wondering if the fact that Eliza is so much attracted to the monster was some kind of fate.

I mean,

1) As a baby, Eliza was found near water. 2) It seems that she feels good only in water. She masturbates only in her bath 3) The scars, there to remind the gills.

What do you think about it?

Other people in other threads have mentioned she was probably a hybrid due to all these connections. The scars were definitely gills.

I'm thinking her mother had something with another asset (hopefully not that same one otherwise it would be both incestuous and beastality!) which resulted in her, so she was abandoned.

I really expected there to be something at the end that connected her to the creature, which traced back to her being found in the river, and the scars. But they never made anything of it. I guess they left it up to the viewer to draw their own conclusions. Or maybe they left it for a sequel.
