He was one of the highlights I thought. Should have got a best supporting Nom.

Haha are you serious? Man he sucked, acted as if he just joking around pretending to be mentality changed. I mean I know he was acting but faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar being nominated for an Oscar.

I do agree. He was the only bit of the film I didn't like. Very cartoony and out of place in the down to earth realism of the rest of the film.

I guess it comes down to personal experience. I’ve known people in my life who were mentally disabled through injury that were very much like the way he acted. Compared to the brother of. Friend I had in high school he was actually understated.

Maybe. But I've never met someone like that myself. The most convincing mentally disabled acting I think I've seen was Toby Kebbell in Dead Man's Shoes. I actually thought they'd cast a mentally disabled actor until he started appearing in other films and became more well known.

I felt much the same way about Paddy Considine - with whom I was not familiar at the time - in A Room for Romeo Brass. He was scarily believable. Another Shane Meadows film, like Dead Man's Shoes - he clearly has a knack of drawing convincing portrayals of mentally disturbed individuals from his actors.

Yes, Considine is a legend.
