This well-acted, engrossing nearly century old movie holds up well to modern viewing.
A compelling aspect of the story is the beautiful and touching blood brothers for life relationship that is portrayed, and how the character Garbo plays impacts it. Lars Hanson and John Gilbert are wonderful as the loving lifelong best friends who are like true brothers.
As for Garbo, she certainly is terrifically memorable here. How about that (of all things!) shockingly sensual Communion scene?!
Speaking of Garbo, the following link will take you to threads I've created for various of her films: https://www.themoviedb.org/person/19549-greta-garbo/discuss/5a53b9609251411320037685
The look of Flesh and the Devil is stunning and impressive. I'm always riveted by the gorgeous scenes shot during snowfall.
