I've read a number of reviews of this film and wondered how bad it could be. It's No worse than Paul Hogan's "Almost An Angel," since it deals with a master con artist changing direction in his life for mysterious-to-himself reasons. I've come across IMDb reviews that praise it to the skies, and I can see that, too. I admit to losing it when Joan Osborne's version of "One of Us" began playing late in the movie. Yep, there comes a time to stand up and account for your life and take the consequences, come what may. Frank Capra was right, making films that appeal to the better natures of people in spite of themselves.

I LIKED BOTH AT THE TIME..AlMOST AN ANGEL STANDS UP BETTER DUE TO CHILDHOOD MEMORIES..AS FOR DEAR GOD...WELL THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL UPON REWATCH...."DEAR GOD!"
