We just saw the film and really enjoyed it. My question is, was that Cillian in one of the smaller lifeboats, telling the guys they couldn't pick them up because they were too full??? When he said we will be back for you. You have vests & the water is fairly warm. Then I remembered he said a U-boat did him in. What the heck?! This doesn't make any sense to me but it was a very dark scene and I swear it was him. Those cheekbones and ice blue eyes are hard to miss. My only other complaint was that the dialogue was hard to understand in many places. I always have CC on when I'm home because you can miss so many things.

Yes it's him, that happened before he was stranded and rescued. The three parts of the film happen in different timelines that overlap each other: beach/mole - 1 week, sea - 1 day and air - 1 hour. Supposed to feel like hearing a story from POV of someone who was actually there, jumping from multiple timelines.
At first when I saw him I thought it was a flashback from his character...or maybe a twin brother lol

I was wondering about that, too. His timeline didn't make much sense to me, since the attack or him leaving on a vessel is never shown in any way.

I was also unsure if it was him, but it definitely was. Felt like there was a scene missing to fill the gap between then and him being rescued on the hull.
This was an excellent film, but my only criticism would be lack of back story to a few of the characters such as Cillian Murphy.
