Discuss No Time to Die

I suppose he could change his mind and stay but if we take him at his word Bond 25 is his fifth and final James Bond film. He does add at the end of his reply: "I think" so I suppose he's not 100 percent certain - the lure of another huge pay packet, perhaps? - but I'm assuming he won't return.

I've had mixed feeling about Craig. I think he's good at the blunt instrument of the state type Bond - he's kinda direct, but I would like an actor with a touch more panache and more conventionally good looking. Having said that, the old school Bond does feel a touch out of date.

Die Another Die was a bit too comic-book and Brosnan's Bond did seem a throwback to the last century, so perhaps Craig's casting was a weird form of genius casting by B Broccoli and she'll continue casting less conventional actors in the role.

I don't think the mass audience for Bond care too much if the actor has less charisma or panache or whatever you think of when you think of the original Cubby Broccoli/Harry Saltzman Bond. Clearly Sean Connery was the blueprint Bond, he set the standard by which others follow, but that was a long time ago now and times have moved on. I can't imagine there will be another Connery type Bond nor do I think Broccoli and Wilson would want a Connery type Bond. Too sexist, too old fashioned for the internet Twitter-verse, metoo, climate control generation. In this respect, Connery and Moore (arguably the most iconic Bonds) look completely out of place in 2019. Craig may have been the right Bond for his time but we're fast approaching the third decade of the 21st century and it feels like recasting is necessary. Let's move on to a new actor and a slightly different take on Bond and his world.

Craig said that last time, but I guess it's hard to say no to having millions thrown at you.

I felt that SPECTRE was a fitting end to his tenure, and was constructed as such: a kind of "Bond's Greatest Hits" with a definite feeling of "goodbye". B25 will struggle to get over that.

2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the franchise. Would be the ideal time to recast the role. Having suggested that, it's very unlikely we'll see Bond 26 in 2022. The producers seem to have given up on a two year schedule. I've no idea how long Bond 25's screenplay has been in production - feels like years! And it went pear shaped when Danny Boyle and his screenwriting pal John Hodge quit.

I can't magine Eon getting a new screenplay finished in time for a 2022 Bond 26 release so a 60th anniversary Bond film seems impossible.
