Thanks.

Just to get the discussion started, Things to Come is one of my favorite films. It is perhaps the first serious post-apocalyptic film.

I remember it playing on TV when I was a boy. It always seemed so far ahead of its time. I kept seeing Metropolis showing up on best of lists so I watch that and this in a row about a year ago. I immediately thought of this again when I saw someone post on the Metropolis page.

Same here. I saw Things to Come on TV when I was little (early 1980s). I knew it was old because it was black and white and it was kind of grainy, and I remember thinking back then that I didn't realize that old movies could be so bleak.

And, heh, I was wondering if someone would mention Metropolis. I haven't seen it, but I'm certainly aware of it (I've seen some of the iconic industrial images from that film that they always show in previews). I know it was made almost a decade before Things to Come and that it is also dystopian.

You have to see it, period. The underground cities is mind boggling. Special effects were far ahead of many.

I have only seen this once, quite some years ago, but it made an impression. Visually arresting and rather moving.

And thanks, it's great to have landed somewhere so promising after our forced eviction. Rebuilding a society in this post-apocalyptic world will be a slow process and - looking at the activity on these boards - it is currently in the early stages, but I'm confident that this is a thriving community in the making.
