Discuss The Meg

I've been waiting for this since I was a teenager. Really surprised to see that nobody has said anything. The trailer came out recently and...well...yeah, I'm not gonna be asking for much but it looks like it could be ok if it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Do we get to see Statham without a shirt?

Could be interesting. Especially if you are a fan of shark movies. The trailer was okay. I'm actually surprised that nobody mentioned that the plot seems a little like Shark Attack 3: Meg. Especially considering the trapped in a submarine with a 70 + foot shark outside. LOL.

It looks like a fun summer movie. Hope it brings in some profits. Im sure China will def help since its filmed and produced by them.

The Meg is based on a 1997 novel that's been in some sort of development ever since, so it's more likely that SA3 was a rip-off... I mean homage to the novel that The Meg is adapting.

Looks fun, but I'll be disappointed if Statham doesn't punch the shark.

Amusing to see a $150 million dollar blockbuster covering the same ground that has been extremely well-worn by straight-to-video C-movies for over a decade. Will this have anything new to offer besides better CGI and starpower?

Not so sure about the star power, most of my friends are making fun of the fact that it's Jason Statham in what most people considered a common Indiana Jones type of role. We're expecting a shlockfest and hopefully that's what we'll get. They've already spoiled it a lot by revealing way too much of the shark, so...any hope of a Jaws type of build up pretty much goes out of the window by this point.

Yeahhhh this was def not going to be a Jaws build up at all. In fact Im sure it wasnt planned like that from the start. This is a fun summer film, nothing more. Seems to be marketed as one to. Not to mention they are pandering to the Chinese market, where Im guessing it will do much better than the US market. I can easily see this getting 200-300 million in China. And how dare your friends laugh at the legend Jason Statham?!

At least they didn't get Jean-Claud VanDamm to fight the shark.

I doubt it. I may wait for the DVD because this year, I've already spent too much money being disappointed in these hyped up movies. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was the last straw.
